Colorado Sen. Jennifer Veiga, a Democrat, "..the information we had at this time showed that it would generate additional revenues.”

Just like a democrat. Took a couple of scores of decades to figure this out but democrats sniff out cash like pigs do truffles. Wait until Obama starts hitting the drink industry with 100% + tax increases under the guise of health care and he prevention of underage drinking.

Well said all around!

I someone's religion is against not drinking on Sabbath (whichever day you choose as your Sabbath) then the answer is simple.... don't buy drink on that day.

The rest of us, however, would like to do a bit of shopping and drinking and whatever else interests us.

From the Commonwealth of Virginia's perspective, the excerpt doesn't seem so odd. Only Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Commission (ABC) stores are allowed to sell hard liquor & ABC licenses those businesses allowed to sell beer & wine.

A legal moonshine (hard liquor) distiller was not eligible for a liquor license, but was certified as an ABC store (requiring legislation)... :-). Enlightened citizens & businesses working with elected officials find practical solutions. You might wonder at the deal struck to create legislation for one moonshiner, but an argument supporting (modern) native craft in addition to State revenue generation is likely.

It actually surprises me that Indiana is so "behind the times" when it comes to Sunday sales. I went to school there and you could buy ANYTHING in a regular grocery store - beer, wine, liquor. Seems that a state so OK with that type of sale (I.E. not even having a separate "liquor store") would be raring to go when it comes to Sunday sales.
